Am I a good candidate for a Brow Lift?
You are a good candidate for a brow lift if:
What results can I expect from a brow lift?
A brow lift will lift a sagging brow, and can soften deep wrinkles in the forehead area, including both lines between the eyebrows (known as glabellar frown lines) and horizontal worry lines. It can correct a perpetually tired, angry, or sad expression, give you a more refreshed and youthful appearance.
Are there other procedures that can improve the results of a brow lift?
A brow lift is often performed in conjunction with a blepharoplasty, since drooping eyelids have a reinforcing effect on drooping brows, contributing to the perpetually tired or angry appearance.
How is a brow lift performed?
There are many variations on the brow lift procedure, but they generally entail the same basic steps. Incisions are made behind the hairline through which the tissues of the brow are separated and elevated. This can turn a deeply wrinkled or drooping brow into a smoother, tighter, slightly higher one.
How long does a brow lift take?
A brow lift is a relatively short procedure, taking from 1 hour to 90 minutes.
How long is recovery after a brow lift?
Recovery will take about two weeks or less. During the first few days, you will feel some discomfort, although the level of pain varies from individual to individual, and you will be given pain medication to help control it. You will also experience swelling and bruising, even under your eyes, which can be diminished using an ice pack. For the first several nights, you should sleep with your head elevated, and it's best if you focus on resting and recovering for the first week or two.
Will there be a scar?
All surgery leaves scars, but for a brow lift these are concealed in the hairline. For men with a family history of baldness, we may place incisions differently. Endoscopic brow lifts have particularly small incisions that leave only minimal scars. Your scarring will depend on your individual skin characteristics, but you will receive instructions on how to minimize them.
