You may benefit from a brow lift if:

• People frequently tell you that you look angry
  Your eyebrows sit low on your forehead, causing a hooded appearance near the upper eyelid
• You find yourself raising your brows when you look in the mirror
• Your upper eyelids droop, and you find yourself raising your eyebrows with your finger in order to visualize what you might look like with an eyelid surgery
• You have prominent horizontal lines across your forehead, or deep scowl lines between your eyebrows.
• The outer part of your eyebrows droop downward, giving you a sad appearance.

A brow lift is a surgical procedure that can permanently improve both the position of the eyebrows and the “dynamic lines”—wrinkles due to muscle contraction—in your forehead.
While a facelift and necklift corrects lax skin in the lower 2/3 of the face and neck, it will not improve the appearance of your forehead. There are several ways to perform brow lift surgery; most depend not only on the specific problem you want to address, but on the location of your hairline and thickness of your hair as well.

How a brow lift is done

An incision is placed within the hairline so that it is well disguised. Underneath the skin and thin muscles of the forehead, the brows are lifted into the correct position. Overly prominent muscles are surgically weakened, but not so much that the forehead appears “frozen”.

Usually no skin is removed, and the hair bearing skin is very carefully repaired so that scarring is minimal.  Great care is taken to avoid an unnatural “surprised” look. This can occur when the entire brow, or sometimes just the inner brow, is lifted too much.

What you can expect: results
The main goals of a brow lift are:

• Restoring a pleasant facial expression
• Maintaining a natural appearance
• Creating aesthetic improvement

My surgical style is to repair problems without creating new ones, whenever possible. Managing expectations is sometimes difficult; the results with a brow lift are so individual that
another person’s “before and after” brow lift pictures should be viewed as a “possibility of change”, not as a guarantee of what you will look like after surgery.

What a brow lift cannot do:

• A brow lift will not fix an upper eyelid or lower eyelid problem, especially extra upper lid skin or dark circles underneath the eyes. These require an eyelid surgery.
• A brow lift will not tighten skin in the cheek or jawline area, which can be corrected using a face or neck lift.
• A brow lift will not correct crow's feet, which can be corrected with Botox, or fine wrinkles around the eyes, which respond very well to erbium laser treatment.
