LABIAPLASTY

Many women are self-conscious about the appearance of their labia due to aging, weight loss, or childbirth. An unattractive bulge in swimwear or bike shorts is the main concern for many; others dislike intimate encounters because they feel their genitals are abnormal. For most, improvement is straightforward. Both labia majora and labia minora can be improved; the outer lips can be tightened with radiofrequency or surgically reduced. The labia minora, or inner aspect, usually requires minor surgery to reduce or contour.

Clinical evaluation usually shows elongation of the inner lips with some irregularity or asymmetry. Lax labia majora (outer labia) generally consists of loose skin as well as elongation. If the person is symptomatic due to rubbing or chafing with activity, there is stronger consideration of minor surgical reduction in order to eliminate discomfort. About 50% skin surface area shrinkage can be achieved with radiofrequency assisted subcutaneous tightening, which can be done under local anesthesia and is minimally invasive.

If the project is extensive and will be combined with other procedures, a light general anesthetic might be considered. Labiaplasty is a common request for women considering a mommy makeover. Other popular treatments include breast lifting or enhancement, abdominal contouring with radiofrequency-assisted liposuction  or tummy tuck, contouring of the flanks, bra roll, and axillary region, and repair of the abdominal muscle gap, or diastasis recti. We do offer noninvasive contouring options that can restore your core using a combination of electromagnetic energy and radiofrequency in four treatments. Of course, because noninvasive therapy is not as corrective as surgery, the outcome may be less dramatic. However, the noninvasive procedure will restore muscle loss and strength by 25%, an equivalent to 12-16 weeks of daily workouts.
